hey all, im almost done rebuilding the sh*tbox 5 generations outdated already...
I was wondering if it is possible to "backup" or transfer the setup i have (i.e so i dont have to format) to a new hdd? I tried a few years back and well.. screwed it up. I really dont want to format and reinstall as it will take days to do it.
ok seeing as your system setup is roughly what it was previously, then you should be able to use the old windows install, but for future use... you need to create a separate partition for windows. make it about 5 gig, and then have the rest of you hard drive on the other partition which is where you should store all your games movies music etc. that way you can simply format that partition and not lose all your shit
BTW. computers run at their most efficient when they have been format and reinstalled. also when you first boot up your pc use your old graphics card if it still works, cos thats one less thing the windows has to fuck up with when it tries to recognise your hardware. and so once your windows installation has gotten used to your new configuration, then your card can be swapped. give me ring if you have any issues man. all my mates are computer techies, including my room mate.
I have done that (to an extent) basically i have win xp 64bit in a partition of its own with some apps, like internet security codecs ands so on. It looks like it maybe a reformat then. Any1 know where i can get a bypass tool for there dumb activation crap? (yes i was dumb enough 2 buy a legit windows now stop laughing)as its on round 5 now i think (u would think microsoft would give more activations than that, considering the amount of time u need to clean up the drives)
